Habitat for Humanity’s fiscal 2025 annual report says the organization helped 3,020,797 people build or improve a place to call home during the year. It also reports helping more than 65 million people since 1976. Both figures concern people helped, not a count of newly constructed houses. Habitat annual report

The report describes a mix of housing activities. In the United States, Habitat reports completing 12,370 home repairs during fiscal 2025, serving more than 24,740 people. Repairs are part of the organization’s housing work, but they should not be counted automatically as new homes or new homeowners.

Habitat Capital’s work is another component. The annual report says it provided 42 loans totaling more than $54.5 million during the fiscal year. The organization also reports that its U.S. network contributed more than $14.7 million through tithing to support work in 39 countries.

These measures show why the unit of measurement matters in nonprofit reporting. People served, repairs completed, financing provided and homes built describe different activities. The annual report supports an account of those reported results, but it does not establish the earlier release’s specific one-millionth-home ceremony or family story.

Archive note: the earlier milestone event, locations, family details and attributed remarks were not substantiated.
